About the Artist
I’m a self-taught artist (born with a crayon in my hand!) and although I’ve become proficient and regionally successful in graphite drawing, calligraphy, illustration and stained glass, I now work exclusively in colored pencil, a somewhat underrepresented medium.
When I began, I blindly jumped in based on what I thought was the logical way to apply the colors and blend the pencils. I knew nothing about pencil pressure, types of pencils or paper and very little about layering and blending. As I learned more and fine-tuned my ability I began by drawing blossoms and plants, and I joyfully created a series of detailed botanical drawings. Recently my preferred subject matter has evolved and includes landscape, sky and water.
I’ve included both recent and earlier works in colored pencil which will show the diversity of my subjects and the medium itself. Please enjoy!
